Steel for Frames
01/10/2013

The steel plate for the new frames for Hengist has now arrived at the premises of Stephenson Engineering, who are to cut and machine the new plates for us. It is understood that the replacement hornguides, which will be fitted to the new frames as part of the manufacture and machining process, will be made by Norton Cast Products this coming week.

Over the next few weeks we expect a selection of components back from Norton’s. These are currently in the queue waiting for a suitable steel quality melt for the casting to take place. More news as soon as we have it.

New Horn Guides!

After a couple of delays we are pleased to announce that the new horn guides have been cast. They will now be delivered to Stephenson Engineering to await welding into the new frames as soon as they are cut.

A meeting is due to be held at Stephensons to agree the cutting of the frames and welding of the horn guides. This is mainly a "dot the i's and cross the t's" exercise with everyone together including Wayne Jones (our VAB), Stephenson Engineering, Colin Green of Ian Riley & Son and the Clan Project Engineering committee. As the old saying goes, "measure twice, cut once".

We look forward to showing you the finished article soon along with updates on the other castings currently being cast.
