Working Day at the Container

Monday 9 July saw another working day at the container steadily making progress on trying to get some order into our parts inventory. Chris Jones, Mike Sedgley, Bob Ife and Ian Henderson took part with the latter trying to photograph as many parts as possible. Fortunately the sun wasn't shining today so the container was reasonably tolerable to work in. Here Bob Ife looks on while Mike tries to identify a part that we believe resides in the smokebox.

Monday the 16th of July, work continued on the parts container. We had three members present today with lots of progress once again visible by the end of the day.
A new heavy duty metal shelving unit was erected and placed in position, with an 810kg loading for each shelf this will provide storage for the heavier items in store. Also a new workbench was built up at the same time. Work also continued on moving more parts into the container. Mike Sedgley and Chris Jones were busy with this work today while Ashley Shimwell painted around two thirds of the outside of the container in undercoat ready for its Brunswick Green top coat.
The new H/D shelving unit can be seen to the left of the photograph. .

More sterling work was done today by the Monday working party at CTL Seal. While Mike and Chris sorted more parts inside the container and started work on the next shelving units Ashley Shimwell continued to make rapid progress with the painting of the outside of the container. Today he put the Brunswick Green topcoat on the rear and one full side. He did the undercoating last week. The result is a transformed container. The weather definitely helped today drying the paint within minutes of it being applied. The photo shows Ashley nearing completing the topcoat down one side of the container.

Chris Jones, Mike Sedgeley, Geoff Turner and Ian Henderson met at CTL Seals premises on 30 July to continue the process of sorting out our parts stock. Chris erected more shelves and Ian concentrated on photographing another batch of parts for the stock inventory system.

The repainted container looks very smart in its coat of Brunswick Green. Mike Sedgeley has also managed to get a coat of undercoat onto the smokebox door
