Highslide JS So far, the valve cylinder core box is half of what is required. For most of the valve cylinder, the top and bottom half are identical. However, the exhaust ports are not. On page 2 of this build section there is a photo of the 3D CAD model showing that the top half in red is a different profile to the bottom half in blue. Tony's solution is to make 4 removable sections, 2 of which will slot into the core box for the bottom half and the other 2 for the top half. The dark blue sections in the photo are the prints which will support the ends of the sand core.
Highslide JS This is one of the removable sections which now needs the export port passage adding to it.
Highslide JS This is the template for the exhaust port
Highslide JS Here is a photograph of a similar core box and shows what Tony is trying to achieve.
Highslide JS The 4 removable 'loose sections' are built up form a set of individual pieces that screwing together. Each pair have to be identical (top and bottom), be easy to lift out and replace and identifiable to the moulder.
Highslide JS Number 3 loose piece in place with notes on top for the moulder
