Today, the cab went into the assembly shop. It needs some paint work after standing out in the elements for a while
These are handrail pillars for the smoke deflectors. 4 are blind ended for the ends of the handrails and 2 have through holes and are fitted where the handrail changes from horizontal to vertical
Once the buffer beam has been riveted into position, our next phase of assembly work will be to fit the platework around the front of the loco, most of which we have in stock. Here is Bob and Ashley rubbing down one of the platform plates that form part of the running plate along the length of the boiler. This plate is fittted to brackets attached to the smokebox. The top received a coat of primer, the bottom will get its coat on our next visit. In the bacground are the frames for the B17 Sandringham project.
While CTL Seal's assembly team are dealing with an urgent job, we've been looking at other items. This is the fireman's side toolbox that lives under his seat. It's been lurking in the container for a while now. Ashley and Bob cleaned it up and Ashley has got some primer on in preparation for a full coat of primer next week. We've also gone through and catalogued our nut and bolt stocks.
