As part of our ongoing effort to ensure a correct paper trail exist for this week will see the shot blasting and NDT testing of the vertical frame stretchers currently in store at Ian Riley & Son (Bury). This process is crucial to prove that these components comply with the strict criteria for mainline certification.

And there's more!...

AMRC (Advanced Manufacturing and Research Centre) in Sheffield are keen to start machining some of our smaller components. It is planned that some of the smaller bogie components will be machined first before larger components at a later date. AMRC have also offered the services of some of their apprentices to convert drawings into digital form (AutoCAD and SolidWorks) which will speed up the manufacture and machining of components as more and more contractors require digital drawing or 3D formats.

Yet another offer from AMRC is the measuring of the frame extensions for dimensional checks. This will involve a positional laser scan of the extension plates and importing the results into AutoCAD and SolidWorks. The frame extensions hold no moving parts but do support the rear of the firebox structure.
